Las Trampas Regional Wilderness

Get Outside Closed
18012 Bollinger Canyon Rd, San Ramon, CA 94583

This San Ramon wilderness spans nearly 6,000 acres with trails ranging from moderate fire roads to challenging single-track climbs up Rocky Ridge. The geology tells quite a story—compressed fossil layers in exposed rocks and remnants of a Cold War Nike missile site add intrigue to your hike. Open daily from early morning, with free parking at the main staging area that fills up by 9 AM on weekends.

The trail network welcomes hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians, with most routes requiring 2-4 hours depending on your destination. Dogs stay leashed throughout, and the rugged terrain demands sturdy shoes and plenty of water. The park surrounds Eugene O'Neill's historic home site, and those panoramic views from the ridgeline make the steep climbs worthwhile.
