About Iron Horse Regional Trail – Danville Segment
The Danville segment runs through some of the nicest stretches of this 30-mile regional trail, following the old Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way established in 1891. The wide, paved path stays semi-shaded as it winds through residential neighborhoods and downtown Danville, making it popular with morning joggers, families with strollers, and cyclists commuting to BART stations.
Perfect for all skill levels, the flat terrain welcomes pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians year-round. Bridges carry you safely over busy roads, and the trail connects seamlessly to other regional paths. Early morning users have the trail mostly to themselves, while evenings draw a steady crowd of locals walking dogs and unwinding after work.
