Hap Magee Ranch Park

1025 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA 94526

This 16.3-acre Danville park sits on land that once served as Camp Swain, a summer camp for San Francisco orphans from 1911 to 1946, before becoming Hap Magee's longhorn ranch. The mature oaks, pines, and sycamores create a peaceful "away from it all" feeling right in town, with separate play areas for different ages, walking trails, and picnic spots under the trees.

The kids' water feature with metal spray tubes draws families during warmer months, while the dedicated dog park keeps the four-legged residents happy. Ranch-style buildings can be reserved for events, and the barn facade at the entrance nods to the property's cattle-ranching days before Contra Costa County and Danville purchased it in 1987.

Great family park

Perfect spot for families with kids of all ages. The splash area was a huge hit with my grandchildren during our visit last weekend, and the dog park is well-maintained with separate areas for large and small dogs. Love that there are plenty of shaded picnic tables and the walking trails connect nicely through the historic ranch grounds.
