About Carnegie Museum (Livermore Heritage Guild)
The Carnegie Library Building is a historic Livermore landmark that now serves as the home of the Livermore Heritage Guild’s History Center Museum and archives. Visitors typically stop in to explore local history at an easy, self-paced rhythm, whether they’re longtime residents or first-time explorers curious about how the city took shape. Inside, the building houses archival materials and museum exhibits, and it has shared space with the Livermore Art Association Gallery since 1974. Originally opened in 1911 with funding from an Andrew Carnegie grant, the building has remained a familiar civic presence for generations, including the well-known tradition of children rolling down its sloped lawns. A docent is available to assist visitors with access to archival information.
